Help us make a grand day for Ginger - UPDATE

Steve Jinman26 Jun 2023 - 19:55

Our forthcoming President's Day will be a tribute to our late groundsman Paul "Ginger" Savage.

Members young and old are welcome to join us on President’s Day, Sunday July 9th, as we try to raise a thousand pounds for charity in tribute to our late groundsman Paul “Ginger” Savage.
The fun starts early in the morning at 9:30 when our under 15 team take on Boyne Hill Stags in a Berkshire North East Division top of the table clash, with the Green currently leading our local rivals by 20 points. The match is expected to reach a climax around midday.
By this time the bar will be open as a host of former players gather for their annual reunion whilst Steve Curlewis fires up the braai. Thanks to Richard Hemmings kindly donating all of the food, 100% of the proceeds will go to Cancer Research.
The main event will start at 2 pm when Darren Craythorne lines up his team against the President’s XI. Between innings the players will be served tea and cake courtesy of Wendy Hemmings.
As the match draws to a finish from 6 pm, an Indian feast will be delivered by The Rising Sun at Hurley, ready to eat at 7 pm. A buffet of Lamb curry, Chicken curry, Vegetable curry, Rice, Poppadoms and Naan Bread is available for £20 which includes a 25% donation to Cancer Research.
Finally a charity raffle will be drawn with prizes including a pair of tickets with hospitality at Maidenhead United for a National League match next season, a Maidenhead United shirt signed by Alan Devonshire and the current first team squad, a pair of pavilion tickets for a Surrey match at the Oval, a pair of tickets for Wycombe Wanderers, two hampers of Cricketers Gin, and a week's access to Millhouse Office Space in Wooburn Green. All the takings from the raffle will go to Cancer Research.
Online purchase options will be available for all of the above. People can also donate directly by clicking here.
We hope to see everyone associated with the club at some point during the day so we can give our friend Ginge a proper send off.
